The club started sometime in the mid 1970’s, but no one in the club was a member so long ago to know exactly when, though when the current chairman joined, some of the first club members still played at the club.
There have always been teams and a competitive spirit within the club as well as a friendly side that, hopefully, has encouraged those with some badminton skills to develop.
Club nights have always been organised in a way to mix all those who turn up to ensure that each player has a good variety of games.
The club and its members have won various competitions over the years. In the 2007/08 season the Mens team in the Newbury and District Badminton Assiociation won division 2, so will play in the first division in 2008/09.
The mens team in the Basingstoke and District Badminton League won promotion to division 2 by coming runners up in division 3. As a result of these successes, the club has decided to enter another mens team and also a mixed team in the Newbury and District Badminton Association.
One member (the Chairman) has been a member for 18 years and there are several other members or regular visitors who have been at or visited the club for almost as long.
But there are also new members and regular visitors who have only been at or attended the club nights in the last season or so, and this trend is being encouraged as much as possible.
