Charity Event no. 1: start date 02-05-2007
Mission Statement:
• To boldly jog where no badminton squad has jogged before.
• To seek out money in the name of Cancer Research.
Time And location: 1900hrs Down Grange, Basingstoke, England.
Weather: Sunny with a cooling breeze.
Squad Information: 6 Regular Badminton players:
• Chairman – Dave
• Captain – Mark
• Doctor – Chris
• Ten-pin – Rob N
• Water Expert – Jon
• Mission Organiser – Rob B
Principle Objective: Take the squad around a 5k Fun Run, avoiding obstacles of 1000 other men, all running at different speeds and being all shapes and sizes.
The Action:
The gun was fired, both Dr – Chris and 10-pin Rob took up scout positions. Captain - Mark, Water Expert – Jon and Mission Organiser – Rob took up the main pack-attack with Chairman – Dave in the Rear Guard Position.
The squad took on the course with no regard to their future Aching legs, thighs and Blistering Feet.
(This truly was a tale of courage considering the size of a badminton court.)
The mission was successful with a good sum of money raised to men’s Cancer (testicle & prostate.)
With a special mention to Chris the Father in law of Mission Organiser – Rob.
Conclusion: A good evening was had by all.
